The Hills’ Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag make friends for a day

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Stop the press! Lauren and Heidi are mates again!Feuding Hills stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag had to put their differences aside for a day yesterday as they appeared together with the other girls in a shoot for the cover of Rolling Stone.

This will be the first time in two years that the girls have appeared in a photo shoot together - so the results should be interesting.

Maybe Lauren’s been feeling a bit lonely after confessing to having trouble finding a man? She’s said:

“Dating [on The Hills] is hard because, personally, I don’t really want to date a guy that wants to be on a reality show, but those are the only kind of guys I can date.”

Bummer.

Although she doesn’t seem to be having too bad a time with these male reality stars - Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado. In fact, looks like they’re all having quite a giggle.

Just one word of advice though Lauren - lose those Lycra leggings. Not good.

Lauren Conrad and Stephanie Pratt = Best Friends Forever?

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

As the episode title tells us, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port make it “Back to LA.” How creative. The title was almost as disappointing as the episode. Probably because there are less Frenchmen in this one. Nevertheless, they did showcase something France does not have: Brody Jenner! Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge hit up Les Deux where they meet up with Brody and Frankie. As LC explains to Audrina, “when you come home, everything is different.” Then how come they’re still partying at Les Deux?! Do any of them ever club anywhere else? And the girl was only gone for a week; the world does not stop when Lauren Conrad leaves the country! The only thing different is the tension between Brody and Lauren. This time, it’s not hot. LC is on a role after turning down those Frenchmen. She refuses to hug Brody causing him to storm out of the club. Frankie is left behind. What happened to bros before hoes? Instead, Frankie stays to talk with LC. He probably just wants another chance to make out with Lo.

Poor LC, this is not her only break-up this season as the inseparable Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad end their two year Teen Vogue relationship.” Whitney realizes that Teen Vogue is not the place for her and has to leave Lauren behind. Whitney ends up working for a stylist: Kelly Cutrone. Her first gig: a fashion show for People’s Revolution. The episode features another fashion line that is better than Lauren’s. Doesn?t LC watch her own show? Get some inspiration! Oddly, one of Whitney?s new co-workers is named Heidi. Do I detect some foreshadowing?

And who says The Hills is just fluff is wrong. Whitney provides great interview tips: 1. Do not piss off old boss 2. Do not piss off new boss. 3. Say yes to the job even if the interviewer tells you that you are making a deal with the devil. Whitney, I really hope she doesn?t go Devil Wears Prada on you!

Someone else needs to learn how to take tips: Heidi Montag. Hasn?t she learned the number one rule from Lauren?s experiences? Do Not Piss Spencer Pratt Off! Heidi and Spencer decide to sort of break up and sort of not see other people. Heidi wants him to move out but doesn?t understand why he?s upset about it. How dumb is this girl? Just by watching The Hills I?ve learned an important message: Don?t mess with Spence or he?ll make up sex tape rumours about you. Heidi better watch out or she?ll be next. Oh wait! She was already in a sex tape; have you seen Heidi?s music video produced by Spencer himself?

Spencer is forced to move in with his sister who he hopes will take his side. Since his best friend and his girlfriend leave him, who has he got left but backstabbing sis? He explains to Stephanie that he can?t trust her because she goes to class with LC and goes clubbing with Heidi. Stephanie is completely offended at his lack of trust. Hmm can?t say I really blame you Spence. Next clip shows Stephanie telling LC exactly what Spencer had just told her. Where?s your brotherly love? Maybe Spratt will replace Whitney to become LC?s new co-worker?

Lauren Bosworth of The Hills

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

“The Hills” was the #1 original series on cable among people between the ages of 12-34 in 2007. “The Hills” is also the top show area on MTV.com for all of ‘07 in terms of uniques and streams. Since the premiere of the third season in August, “The Hills” show area on MTV.com has attracted an average of 600,000 unique visitors a week. We had the honor of sitting down with Lauren “Lo” Bosworth from The Hills and Laguna Beach and talking about the reality series and the young starlet’s future.

Can you talk a little bit about how shows like Laguna Beach and The Hills work? How much of it is reality and is any of it scripted?

Lo: Sure. We do have a filming schedule which definitely makes it easier than having cameras around 24/7. Everything that we film is real, everything you see on the show has really happened. It really is a lot of expert editing done by people that work with the show. They create such an interesting storyline that it seems like there is a script. If I didn’t know and I watched the show, I would think the same thing, but there is no script.

Is it difficult to live a normal life with the cameras around? Or does having that filming schedule help to make it more bearable?

Lo: The fact that there is a filming schedule makes it a lot more bearable. We filmed this morning, but now I’m just hanging out here at home. I have the rest of the day off, so it’s really not bad at all. It’s weird though, the paparazzi like to hang out in front of the house, and so if we go anywhere, they’re there. So it’s hard to like run down to Blockbuster, because they’re there. There are always people around.

Lauren Conrad says move from reality TV to fashion is ‘double-edged sword’

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Lauren Conrad, star of the hit MTV Hollywood reality show “The Hills,” says she’s got an uphill battle when it comes to proving herself as a fashion designer.”Being on a reality show and then trying to branch out into designing, it’s kind of a double-edged sword,” Conrad said Friday in an interview at the head office of Canadian retailer Holt Renfrew, where her debut spring 2008 womenswear collection is now available.

“I would not be able to have the line if I didn’t have the reality show first or I wouldn’t be able to have it so soon, but because I was on a reality show, you don’t get the respect that you want and … I have done everything to deserve it as far as all the designing and everything that I would’ve done, reality show or not. Because I got the opportunity so much sooner, people are quick to criticize.”

The Lauren Conrad Collection, available exclusively at Holt Renfrew in Canada and in 500 boutiques in the U.S. (and online at www.shoplaurenconrad.com), reflects Conrad’s upbringing in Southern California with light, flowing dresses and tops that have clean lines and shapes. All the items are machine-washable.

Conrad, whose training at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and internship at Teen Vogue were documented in her show, has already created a spring, summer and fall collection for this year.

Canadians looking for warmer winter items from the Hollywood fashion plate shouldn’t get their hopes up, though.

“It really is a California brand,” said the 22-year-old, who appeared on the popular MTV reality series “Laguna Beach” four years ago before getting her own spinoff series that airs Monday nights on MTV Canada.

Conrad, who has complete creative control over her line, made her designer debut at Mercedes-Benz L.A. Fashion Week earlier this month.

The experience was “amazing” but at one point brought her to tears backstage, she said.

“I actually thought that I had messed up,” said Conrad, looking impeccably stylish in a purple dress and black heels.

“I was sending looks out and they were kind of untucked and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, it looked terrible,’and I went out and did my wave and walked backstage and I just broke into tears and I was like, ‘Oh my God, it was so bad!’… I ended up seeing it (later on tape) and I was like, ‘OK, it was fine, it was fine.”‘

Season 3 of “The Hills” returned from a winter hiatus this past Monday and got its highest number of viewers ever.

Conrad says she’s willing to do a fourth season of the show but isn’t sure about a fifth.

As for the ongoing tabloid speculation surrounding her life, Conrad confirms that she is single, doesn’t talk to Heidi Montag (her rival on “The Hills”) and still keeps in touch with her ex-boyfriend, Jason Wahler.

She also quashed rumours that a movie based on her show is being planned.

“I think I was doing an interview and they asked if they were going to do a ‘Hills’ movie, how would they film it, and then people kind of ran with it,” said Conrad, who lives in a house in Los Angeles with Audrina Patridge and Lauren (Lo) Bosworth, her BFFs on “The Hills.”

“But, no, there’s no ‘Hills’ movie in the works.”

Spencer & Heidi Hit Vegas, Stay in Separate Hotels

Friday, March 28th, 2008

When The Hills returned Monday, Spencer Pratt traveled to Colorado to try and mend his relationship with Heidi Montag – only to be told she needed “space.” Well, judging from their visit to Las Vegas on Wednesday, space is exactly what she got.

Sources at various casinos tell PEOPLE that not only did the couple stay in different rooms, they’re actually in different hotels. Montag is staying at the Palazzo and Pratt has checked into the Hard Rock.

“Yes it is true,” a rep tells PEOPLE. “They are working on their relationship … They were there filming The Hills.”

While in Vegas working on the show, the on-again, off-again couple was spotted arguing for the cameras at the Palazzo’s Dos Caminos restaurant. When the camera’s stopped rolling on multiple occasions, Pratt left the restaurant while Montag stayed behind, hanging out with Los Angeles club promoter and her Hills boss Brent Bolthouse.

Interaction on and off-camera was limited between the two. During his downtime, Pratt kept clear of Montag, taking in a mixed martial arts fight at Hard Rock and later having dinner with his sister Stephanie at Wolfgang Puck’s CUT Steakhouse.

Lauren Conrad Talks Fashion with NYLON

Friday, March 28th, 2008

It’s no secret that I watch too much TV. So when Lauren Conrad - whom you probably know from The Hills - made an appointment with NYLON’s fashion team this week, I pounced.

“Please?” I winked to fashion director J. Errico, and I guess I looked innocent enough, because he added me into the meeting.

So let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way:

Yes, she really is that pretty in person, looking more like a Disney princess than even Amy Adams in Enchanted. And yes, she’s also really nice, sharply smart, and actually kind of funny: ”The first two seasons of my clothes are all named after my friends,” she explained, “But then, you know, I totally ran out of friends!”

And as for those clothes: She’s into her third season of the Lauren Conrad line, which is all made from jersey cotton that’s made in downtown Los Angeles. The line ranges from $40 - $220, available to buy online or at Intermix, and we really liked some of the pieces. They layer well, they deal with all different body types, “and they’re machine washable AND dryable!” exclaimed Lauren.

If only she’d had the same luxury with the Alberta Ferretti gown she totally ruined on last night’s Hills…Anyway, Lauren swore “my clothes look better on my friends than they do on the hanger,” so we put her thesis to the test, dressing up our intern Caitlin (who bears a suspicious resemblance to Lauren’s partner-in-crime, Whitney Port) in three of our favorite Lauren Conrad pieces.Do they belong in a future issue of NYLON? Have a look and let us know what you think…
