Whitney Port is the most fashionable star of “The Hills” in our opinion, even if she did mispronounce Givenchy. Now she’s set to launch her own contemporary clothing line called Eve & A this fall.
She may be following in the footsteps of co-stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, but we’re expecting much more from Whitney than T-shirts and Cali-casual fare.
The 20-piece collection will feature wool and silk items that can be mixed and matched for day or evening and are priced at $50 to $220 wholesale (which means it will be more for us).
Lauren Conrad, star of the hit MTV Hollywood reality show “The Hills,” says she’s got an uphill battle when it comes to proving herself as a fashion designer.”Being on a reality show and then trying to branch out into designing, it’s kind of a double-edged sword,” Conrad said Friday in an interview at the head office of Canadian retailer Holt Renfrew, where her debut spring 2008 womenswear collection is now available.
“I would not be able to have the line if I didn’t have the reality show first or I wouldn’t be able to have it so soon, but because I was on a reality show, you don’t get the respect that you want and … I have done everything to deserve it as far as all the designing and everything that I would’ve done, reality show or not. Because I got the opportunity so much sooner, people are quick to criticize.”
The Lauren Conrad Collection, available exclusively at Holt Renfrew in Canada and in 500 boutiques in the U.S. (and online at www.shoplaurenconrad.com), reflects Conrad’s upbringing in Southern California with light, flowing dresses and tops that have clean lines and shapes. All the items are machine-washable.
The Hills Lauren Conrad is best known for being a reality television star, but that doesn’t mean the 22-year-old blonde comes cheap.
Celebrity booker Mike Esterman tells me that her asking price for a nightclub appearance is at an all-time high for her at - ready for this? - $20,000!
And guess what? She actually has a couple of offers matching the price, according to Esterman.
“We have kind of talked about it,” she said with a big smile. “I think if they were going to do a film of the hills they would basically film it like we do the show and they would just edit it into a movie. It would be like a really long episode.” Well that doesn’t really sell it all that well but maybe if you see her say it, it will sound better. Watch below.
Says MTV, “Think of it. Spencer being an ass on a 30-foot high screen. Whitney falling down a flight of stairs in 3-D. Audrina’s teeth the size of range rovers. I can’t take it!”
The word is in – and it’s mixed for Heidi Montag’s latest song, “No More.” While the Hills star’s music has been somewhat of a hard sell in the past — PEOPLE.com readers unanimously panned her first single — those same readers are now eagerly sharing their thoughts on her follow up pop song. More than 1,700 respondents have already commented. “This release is an improvement over your last,” writes one reader. “It has a catchy melody. I’m not sure music is your niche, but you do seem persistant [sic]. That is a necessity in your industry.”
Others agree. “I kind of like it,” says one.
Interestingly, some comments take issue not with the song but with Montag. Writes commenter “Aquanetta Robinson”: “I don’t like her at all, but the words to the song [are] good because [they’re] from the heart.”
